The visual turn and the democratization of culture – lectures and workshop

 

The importance of visual images for daily life, their role in informing, expressing, communicating, is closely related to the process of democratization of culture in its both senses of increasing the access and participation, and the enlargement of the concept in order to include popular forms of culture as film, television, internet communities. Who are the actors and who are the beneficiaries of these changements? What are the effects of these changes for the SEE societies and how are they reflected in the process of constructing and reconstructing their cultural identities?
